Our local City of Dundee has been named in Lonely Planet’s Top 10 ‘Best in Europe 2018’, alongside other top European destinations such as Provence in France, Kosovo and Cantabria, Spain.
This will add to the building momentum around Dundee as an exciting short break and holiday destination. Dundee is the only UK City to be highlighted in the 2018 accolades and it's the first time a Scottish destination has been featured since 2014.
With a vibrant cultural and food scene and tourism booming in Dundee, it's a great place for our guests to experience. Although our Hideaways are set in the beautiful Angus countryside, we are only two miles from the City of Dundee boundary and five miles from the City Centre, making The Hideaway Experience an ideal location for a city break.
Lonely Planet judges reflected "With the opening of the newest branch of the V&A this September, Dundee is a city with an eye on the future. Perched at the edge of Craig Harbour, architect Kengo Kuma’s angular concrete structure, which draws inspiration from the contours of a Scottish cliff face, will be the country’s leading centre for design, showcasing 300 years of innovation.
Remarkable ideas deserve a remarkable home and this space-age museum is the first step in a £1 billion, 30-year regeneration project that builds on Dundee’s Unesco City of Design award in 2014. The redevelopment will transform the historic waterfront, providing a social ‘living room’ at the edge of the silvery River Tay, while further fuelling a creative scene that increasingly attracts some of the UK’s most visionary talent."
